Honda partners with Ascend Elements to procure recycled Li-ion battery resources.

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has announced a new partnership with U.S.-based Ascend Elements, Inc. to improve the recycling of lithium-ion batteries used in Honda’s electrified vehicles. The two companies have reached a basic agreement to collaborate toward stable procurement of resources from recycled batteries in North America. This collaboration will help Honda achieve its goal of reducing its environmental impact and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

Through this collaboration, Honda aims to secure a reliable supply of nickel, cobalt, and lithium, which will be reclaimed from recycled lithium-ion batteries by Ascend Elements. These resources will then be utilized in Honda’s battery supply chain for the production of electrified vehicles in North America.
