February 2023 Electric two wheeler sales; Ola, TVS, and Ather showing consistent results.

TVS and Ather registered an increase in their electric two-wheeler monthly sales in February 2023, while the sales of Hero Electric, Ampere, and Okinawa declined.

Electric two-wheeler market in India is experiencing a significant surge in sales and demand. In February 2023, the electric two wheeler sales crossed the 65,000 mark. The competition is also getting tougher, with new companies entering the market and existing companies launching new products.

One such new entrant in the EV industry is Bangalore-based electric two wheeler startup River. River launched its first electric scooter, Indie, on 22nd February. It comes with the largest storage capacity in its segment. The scooter has 43-litres of under seat storage and 12 litres of front glove box. The scooter is equipped with a 4 kWh battery, which provides a range of 120 km.

In February 2023, 65,623 electric two-wheelers were sold in India.

Ola Electric has maintained its top position on the sales list. In February 2023, Ola Electric delivered 17,616 electric two wheelers.

In February, Ola made two major announcements. The company expanded its electric scooter portfolio with the launch of new variants of S1 and S1 Air. Both S1 and S1 Air are now available in three different trims, powered by a 2kWh, 3kWh, and 4kWh battery. Ola also announced that the deliveries of S1 Air would begin in July 2023.

The other major announcement was signing an MoU with Tamil Nadu Government to set up World’s largest EV ecosystem in the state. Ola will set up its EV Hub in the Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts of Tamil Nadu, which will consist of EV manufacturing plants, Li-Ion cell manufacturing plants, and vendor and supplier parks.

TVS has also delivered outstanding results in February 2023. The company delivered 12,568 iQube electric scooters in Feb (its highest-ever monthly sales). This impressive performance has secured the company’s position at the second spot in the retail sales rankings. TVS will also start deliveries of its flagship e-scooter, iQube ST, later this year.

Another company to maintain its consistency is Ather. Ather delivered 9,959 electric scooters in Feb’23 and is in third place on the sales list.

Hero Electric and Ampere EV are in fourth and fifth positions with 5,855 and 5,835 sales, respectively. Sales of Okinawa declined. The company managed to sell only 3,840 electric two-wheelers in February.

Hero MotoCorp delivered 299 Vida V1 electric scooters in Bengaluru, Jaipur, and Delhi. The company will start deliveries in other cities soon.
