BYD launches the ATTO 3 electric SUV in the UK.

BYD, one of the world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturers, has announced the introduction of a new brand and technology to the UK automotive marketplace. The company’s all-new, all-electric BYD ATTO 3 is now available to order in the UK, with customer deliveries set to begin on March 15, 2023.

The launch of the BYD ATTO 3 marks the company’s entry into the UK automotive marketplace, following its success in the country’s bus market since 2013. BYD’s pure-electric buses have driven more than 43 million kilometres, reducing CO2 emissions by the equivalent of 46,000 tonnes.

To support the launch of the new brand, BYD has opened its first ‘Pioneer’ stores in Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, and Milton Keynes. These stores will showcase the BYD ATTO 3 and provide customers with the opportunity to learn more about the brand and its innovative technology.

The BYD ATTO 3 is a groundbreaking SUV that’s built on BYD’s next-generation e-Platform 3.0, making it the first of its kind in the market. This cutting-edge platform delivers the ultimate in safety, performance, system efficiency, and integrated vehicle intelligence. It also provides a larger cabin space for added comfort and convenience.

At the forefront of EV innovation, the new generation e-Platform 3.0 comprises the world’s first mass-produced 8-in-1 electric powertrain that connects all electric control units and management systems seamlessly. This deep integration delivers an impressive overall system efficiency of 89%.

Core features of the e-Platform 3.0 include the high-efficiency heat pump and BYD Blade Battery, which is a revolutionary technology that’s been developed over 28 years of specialist expertise. This advanced battery technology provides exceptional safety, durability, and performance, along with increased battery space utilization.

The Blade Battery is ultra-safe and has passed the Nail Penetration Test, considered the toughest battery safety test globally. The cobalt-free Blade Battery uses Lithium Iron-Phosphate (LFP) as its cathode material, providing a much higher level of safety than traditional lithium-ion batteries. LFP also offers excellent thermal stability, making it a durable and reliable material.

The integrated technology in the BYD ATTO 3 has been developed to provide an exceptional driving experience with optimum performance. The vehicle boasts a 60.48 kWh Blade Battery, combined with a permanent magnet synchronous motor that enables it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 7.3 seconds.

The BYD ATTO 3 offers a reassuring combined WLTP electric range of 260 miles, and an impressive 351 miles city range with energy consumption as low as 3.98 miles/kWh (WLTP) and 5.13 miles/kWh (city). The charging power is 11 kW AC 3 (Comform and Design), which enables high-performance charging.

Moreover, the BYD ATTO 3 offers a remarkable recharging performance, thanks to its 150KW DC charger. The battery can be replenished from SOC 30% to 80% in just 29 minutes, while overnight charging from an almost empty battery to the full range can be completed in just 6.5 hours.

Another impressive feature of the BYD ATTO 3 (all three trims) is the VtoL function, which enables external devices to be charged by the car battery with ease.

BYD’s commitment to innovation in the name of safer driving is evident in the new BYD ATTO 3. Boasting a comprehensive range of standard safety and driver assistance features, the SUV has scored a Five-Star Rating in Euro NCAP Safety Tests, with impressive scores of 91% for adult occupant protection and 89% for child occupant protection. Key features include Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Brake, Lane Keep Assistance, Lane Change Assist, and Emergency Lane Keep.

The BYD ATTO 3 also offers a range of additional driver aids, such as a Blind Spot Detection System, Electronic Stability Program, Electronic Brake Distribution, Electric Parking Brake, Antilock Braking System, Automatic Vehicle Hold, Traction Control, Hill Decent Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Limit Information, and Intelligent Speed Limit Control.

Smart connectivity and advanced infotainment are also central elements of the BYD ATTO 3. The car is equipped with the DiLink 4.0 (4G) intelligent connection system, which delivers cutting-edge technology experiences and Over the Air (OTA) updates as part of the iCloud service. GPS Navigation comes as standard, and the SUV’s interior is dominated by a unique 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen (15.6 inches on Design versions) with voice recognition, providing access to a wealth of connected experiences and integrated apps, including Apple CarPlay.
