Hyundai unveils second-generation KONA EV.

All-new Hyundai KONA EV, with a long-range 65.4-kWh battery, delivers a WLTP-estimated 490 km of class-leading all-electric range, based on European specifications.

Hyundai Motor Company hosted a digital world premiere today to unveil the second-generation KONA, an upscaled multiplayer in the B-SUV segment. The new KONA comes with an all-electric variant (EV) that offers advanced safety and convenience features and a class-leading range.

The KONA offers one of the most comprehensive product packages in the B-SUV segment, including the widest range of powertrains. Customers can choose from EV (standard or long range), hybrid electric (HEV), and internal combustion engine (ICE) variants, as well as sporty N Line versions of each.

Hyundai Motor took a unique approach in the development of the all-new KONA, breaking away from the traditional ICE-to-EV development process. Instead, they followed an EV-to-ICE process, resulting in a futuristic EV-centric exterior that accentuates the SUV’s pure volume, making a rugged and dynamic impression.

The new KONA boasts impressive aerodynamic performance, with a drag coefficient of just 0.27. This exceptional aerodynamic capability is achieved without sacrificing style, ensuring that the KONA not only looks sleek and modern but also offers an efficient and sustainable driving experience.

The all-new KONA Electric features a long-range 65.4-kWh battery that delivers an impressive class-leading all-electric range (AER) of 490 km, according to WLTP estimates based on European specifications. The long-range variant provides a peak power output of 160 kW and a peak torque of 255 Nm, ensuring a powerful and efficient driving experience. The standard range variant is equipped with a 48.4 kWh battery, 114.6 kW peak power output, and 255 Nm peak torque. Both variants of the KONA are capable of supporting up to 400 V charging and can charge from 10% to 80% in just 41 minutes, making it incredibly convenient for drivers who need to charge up quickly.

Leveraging the upscaled dimensions and EV-derived universal architecture of the model, Hyundai Motor has managed to create a more spacious interior that accommodates an even wider range of lifestyles. The driver-centric front row is further enhanced by a floating horizontal C-Pad that comes equipped with dual 12.3-inch panoramic display screens, providing an immersive and futuristic driving experience.

The Kona is also equipped with a convenient Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function that allows drivers to power up or charge any electrical equipment or device. This feature comes with both interior and exterior outlets, making it incredibly convenient.

The all-new KONA takes connectivity to the next level by offering continuous Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates, allowing car owners to stay up-to-date with the latest software and save on maintenance costs, all while enjoying an upgradable experience.

In addition, the KONA offers even more convenience with the Digital Key 2 Touch feature, which allows drivers to lock, unlock and start the car using their smartphones or smart watches through near-field communication (NFC), ensuring high-level security.

Inside, the KONA’s dual 12.3-inch panoramic display screens integrated into the audio-video navigation (AVN) system provide an immersive digital experience. The new KONA is also the first Hyundai model to apply the new Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), providing advanced graphics and perfect unity among the vehicle displays.

The KONA’s eight-speaker Bose Premium Sound System, plus subwoofer, has been tuned by Bose engineers to deliver a rich and immersive listening experience. Driver and passengers alike have access to two USB-C chargers (including one with data support) and a 12V power outlet in the front, as well as two USB-C chargers in the rear. The KONA is also equipped with the latest version of Hyundai’s connectivity technology, and Bluelink Streaming Service for music and videos will be provided at a later time.
