XPENG Launches P7i Sports Sedan in China.

XPENG, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has announced the launch of its new P7i sports sedan, showcasing its latest technologies to the Chinese market. The P7i features significant upgrades in driver assistance, smart cockpit, performance, and charging efficiency.

XPENG P7i is available in 4 different configurations in China. Prices of the variants are:

• 702Pro - RMB249,900 (USD 36,000)
• 702Max - RMB269,900 (USD 38,800)
• 610Max Performance (4WD) - RMB289,900 (USD 41,700)
• 610Wing Performance (4WD) - RMB339,900 (USD 48,900)

The sale of the car has started, and deliveries will kick off in March.

Boasting a remarkable performance, the P7i outclasses its competitors in its category with a peak torque of 757 Nm and an acceleration time of only 3.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h in its 610MAX and 610WING Performance versions - surpassing even certain sports car models. Furthermore, the P7i’s four-wheel drive torque distribution system can transfer torque to all four wheels in just about 20 milliseconds.

Additionally, the P7i impresses with up to 702 km CLTC range in RWD variants and 610 km CLTC range in AWD variants, and fast charging capability, which can secure another 240 km of range in just ten minutes.

The P7i’s aerodynamic design has been refined, resulting in an impressive drag coefficient of only 0.236 Cd. Moreover, the P7i’s braking system is equipped with Brembo four-wheel brake hubs and Brembo front four-piston calipers, ensuring a secure braking distance of just 33.3 meters at 100 km/h. The exterior of the P7i features XPENG’s “Dynamic Aesthetics” design language, which enhances its sports silhouette, giving it a more energized look.

The P7i’s performance is boosted by an integrated thermal management system called X-HP 2.0, which has been optimized for maximum efficiency. With a cooling capacity of up to 8.5kW, 88.9% higher than previous models, the P7i can maintain a constant speed of 190 km/h for 30 minutes without the risk of battery overheating. Additionally, the X-HP 2.0 system can optimize the driving range by up to 15% in colder conditions.

XPENG is expanding its charging network in China and has plans to upgrade 180 supercharging stations with S4 480kW ultra-fast chargers. These upgraded charging stations will be compatible with the maximum charging power of the new P7i, significantly improving its charging efficiency.

Equipped with XPENG’s proprietary XNGP architecture, the new P7i boasts the industry’s most advanced all-scenario driver assistance system. Capable of performing City NGP (Navigation Guided Pilot), enhanced Highway NGP, and LCC (Lane Centering Control) functions, as well as the industry’s first mass-produced cross-level parking assistance VPA (Valet Parking Assist), the P7i’s intelligent capabilities are backed by a superior hardware platform.

This includes dual-LiDAR units and dual NVIDIA DRIVE Orin-X SoCs, which provide up to 508 TOPS of computing power (MAX & WING versions), a 17-fold increase from previous models. Additionally, with a 31-sensor architecture and enhanced 360° perception capability, the P7i is designed to achieve L4 ADAS functions in certain scenarios.

The P7i is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P chipset, which supports XPENG’s proprietary Xmart OS 4.0 operating system. Its all-scenario Voice Assistance 2.0 provides real-time, continuous voice command recognition, covering all four seating positions within the cockpit.

The smart cockpit also features a full touch-enabled in-car infotainment system. Moreover, the P7i’s control and driving experience are optimized by a Surrounding Reality (SR) dashboard display, which provides a 360° simulation of the surrounding road and environmental conditions.
