Tata Motors reduces price of Nexon EV; pricing now starts at Rs 14.49 lakh.

Tata motors also launched a new Nexon EV MAX XM variant and increased the range of the MAX model to 453 km.

Tata Motors marked the 3rd anniversary of the Nexon EV launch by repositioning the vehicle portfolio. Tata motors reduced the price of all Nexon EV models, launched a new MAX XM variant, and increased the range of the MAX model to 453 km.

Tata Motors studied driving data and usage patterns and made software updates to the vehicle, increasing the range of the Nexon EV MAX to 453 km (MIDC). Previously, the range was 437 km. This upgrade will be available to current MAX owners through a software update at dealerships starting February 15, 2023.

In addition, the company introduced a Nexon EV MAX XM trim in the lineup. This variant will feature an Electronic Parking Brake, Automatic Climate Control, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with i-VBAC, Projector Headlamps with LED DRLs and LED Tail Lamps, Push-Button Start, Digital TFT Instrument Cluster, ZConnect Connected Car Technology with Smartwatch Connectivity, and Rear Disc Brakes.

Tata Motors has reduced prices up to ₹85,000 in some variants. Price of all the Nexon EV Prime variants (with 30.2kWh battery and 3.3kW charger) are as follows:

  • XM: ₹14.49 lakh
  • XZ+: ₹15.99 lakh
  • XZ+ Lux: ₹16.99 lakh

Price of all the MAX variants (with 40.5 kWh battery) are as follows:

  • XM (3.3 kW charger): ₹16.49 lakh
  • XM (7.2 kW charger): ₹16.99 lakh
  • XZ+ (3.3 kW charger): ₹ 17.49 lakh
  • XZ+ (7.2 kW charger): ₹ 17.99 lakh
  • XZ+ Lux (3.3 kW charger): ₹18.49 lakh
  • XZ+ Lux (7.2 kW charger): ₹18.99 lakh

A few days ago, Mahindra also announced the price of its first electric SUV, the XUV400, which is the main competitor of the Nexon EV. XUV400 will be available in two variants – EC and EL. EC variant is powered by a 34.5 kWh battery, which offers an MIDC range of 375 km. The price of the XUV400 EC with a 3.3 kW charger is ₹15.99 lakh, and with a 7.2 kW charger is ₹16.49 lakh. XUV400 EL is powered by a 39.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, offers an MIDC range of up to 456 km, and comes along with a 7.2 kW charger. The price of the EL variant is ₹18.99 lakh.

The specifications and prices of both these cars are almost the same. Now it remains to be seen how the XUV400 is received after its launch. Will it be able to compete with the Nexon EV or not?
