Power Global launches eZee swappable battery packs for auto-rickshaws in India.
US based company also planning to introduce a retrofit kit that will enable the conversion of conventional light vehicles to EVs.
The US-based company Power Global launched swappable Lithium-Ion battery modules called eZee for rickshaws and other light electric vehicles. The eZee battery pack has a capacity of 2.5kWh, which will provide a range up to 165km.
Power Global will offer an energy-as-a-service membership program to rickshaw drivers in India. After signing for this subscription plan, drivers will receive a swappable eZee battery pack. Drivers can either charge the module at home or swap at Power Global’s convenient kiosks called eOsk, for a fully charged battery in less than a minute. The battery comes with a zero-maintenance lifetime service guarantee.
Initially, it is available only in Greater Noida.
Ravee- Retrofit kit
Power Global is also planning to launch its retrofit kit known as Ravee. After installing this retrofit kit, diesel and petrol auto-rickshaws will transform into a high-performance EV.
This module will have the capacity to load up to two eZee battery packs. It will offer a range of 330km. Ravee will also include an integrated traction motor, motor controller, and vehicle control unit (VCU).
Deliveries of Ravee are expected to begin from November 2021. Reservation for the Ravee module bay is ongoing on the company’s official website.
eOsk Battery swapping network
Power Global is also working on battery swapping networks called eOsk. At an eOsk station, you can easily insert an eZee battery module and take out a fully charged battery for your vehicle.
Each eOsk will offer up to 10kWh of energy. The company is also inviting dealers to host an eOsk.
