Electreon, TOYOTA, and DENSO to jointly develop advanced wireless EV charging technology.

The partnership between Electreon, TOYOTA, and DENSO aims to promote the adoption of wireless charging and shape industry standardization.

Electreon, the Israeli wireless power transfer company, has announced that it has entered into a partnership agreement with TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION and DENSO CORPORATION to develop an advanced wireless electric vehicle charging technology kit. The agreement follows a comprehensive technology evaluation conducted by technical teams from TOYOTA and DENSO at Electreon’s headquarters in Beit Yanai, Israel.

As part of the evaluation, a demonstration of the RAV4-PHEV charging on the wireless road was held. The parties intend to promote technical development and adoption of wireless charging technology through co-development of an aftermarket wireless kit for current electrified vehicles, integration of the wireless technology into new cars, collaboration to shape the standardization of wireless EV charging, and a joint pilot project in Japan, the U.S. or the EU, including commercial proof of business.

Electreon has been working on wireless charging technology for several years, with a focus on charging roads that allow vehicles to charge as they drive. The company’s technology uses inductive power transfer to send energy wirelessly from a charging pad embedded in the road to a receiver on the underside of the vehicle.

The partnership with TOYOTA and DENSO marks a significant step forward for the adoption of wireless charging technology in the automotive industry. The companies plan to work together to develop a more advanced wireless charging system that can be integrated into existing vehicles and new cars.

TOYOTA is committed to providing solutions and options to its customers worldwide in its pursuit of a carbon-neutral society. Dynamic wireless charging technology is one such solution that TOYOTA hopes will address the challenges associated with electrified vehicles. This technology has the potential to eliminate the inconvenience of charging, reduce the size of EV batteries, extend driving range, and evenly distribute power demand, thus easing the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid.

As a global tier 1 manufacturer of automotive components, DENSO shares TOYOTA’s goal of achieving zero CO2 emissions. The company aims to reduce emissions from mobility products by contributing to the electrification of cars and achieving zero CO2 emissions in everyday energy use. To accomplish this, DENSO places a strong emphasis on utilizing cutting-edge technology to provide solutions.

Partnering with Electreon aligns perfectly with DENSO’s vision of creating a more efficient and sustainable future. The company was impressed by the extent of Electreon’s innovation and technology maturity, and it eagerly anticipates combining its expertise with Electreon’s innovative technology to take wireless charging to the next level.

Within the next few months, the Parties will execute a detailed joint development agreement for all the joint activities mentioned above.
