ABT e-Line and WiTricity announce plans to bring wireless EV charging to Europe.

ABT e-Line and WiTricity will bring wireless charging to VW ID.4, Audi e-Tron GT, Porsche Taycan, & Volkswagen ID. Buzz EVs in Europe.

ABT e-Line and WiTricity have announced their plans to bring wireless EV charging to Europe. ABT e-Line, which has extensive experience working with the Volkswagen Group, will initially upgrade the VW ID.4 to support wireless charging from WiTricity, with availability targeted for early 2024.

This move represents a significant step forward in the automotive industry’s adoption of wireless charging technology. WiTricity’s magnetic resonance technology enables drivers to charge their EV simply by parking over a charging pad – all with the same speed and efficiency as plugging into Level 2 equipment. This will undoubtedly appeal to tech-savvy customers who are looking for innovative and convenient ways to charge their vehicles.

The fact that the global automotive standard for wireless charging for EVs was ratified by the Society of Automotive Engineers in 2020, based in large part on WiTricity’s designs, is a testament to the effectiveness of their technology. It also ensures that both the ABT e-Line vehicles and WiTricity’s chargers will interoperate with other manufacturers, providing even more flexibility for drivers.

ABT e-Line’s plans to extend wireless charging capability to additional vehicles, including the Audi e-Tron GT and Porsche Taycan, as well as the Volkswagen ID. Buzz, demonstrates their commitment to innovation and differentiation in their respective classes. This move will undoubtedly further solidify ABT e-Line’s position as a technology driver and one of the leading companies in aftermarket automotive solutions.

Wireless EV charging has become increasingly popular among consumers, with studies revealing that it’s highly sought after. In fact, a whopping 96 percent of EV users have expressed interest in wireless charging, rating it significantly higher in desirability than other features like assisted parking or autonomous driving capabilities. Responding to this demand, ABT e-Line has announced plans to launch new EV models that not only meet this need but also offer other desirable features. The goal is to promote the convenience, safety, and accessibility of wireless charging across Europe, ensuring that more drivers can enjoy the benefits of this innovative technology.

ABT e-Line’s strong track record in customizing vehicles to meet the stringent demands of discerning customers fits perfectly with the leading wireless charging technology from WiTricity“, says Eric Plekkepoel, CEO of ABT e-Line.

We’re thrilled to see the simplicity and convenience of wireless charging expand to vehicles in Europe through this partnership with one of the leading companies in automotive upgrade and aftermarket solutions,” said Alex Gruzen, CEO, WiTricity. “Our proven, automotive-grade charging solutions will help address many of the electrification challenges by making charging as easy as parking.
