4453 EV charging stations sanctioned in India under the FAME II scheme.

To promote electric mobility in India, the Central Government announced the Phase II of the FAME scheme on April 1, 2019. Under the FAME II scheme ₹1000 crores are allocated for the development of EV charging infrastructure in the country.

Today, the Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries, Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, shared details of the EV charging stations sanctioned under the FAME II policy. The Ministry has sanctioned 2,877 electric vehicle charging stations in 68 cities across 25 states/UTs and 1576 charging stations across 9 Expressways and 16 Highways in India. In total, the government has sanctioned 4,453 EV charging stations across the country.

Among all the states, Maharashtra has the most EV charging stations(317) sanctioned under FAME II, followed by Tamil Nadu(281), Gujarat(278), Andhra Pradesh(266), and Madhya Pradesh(235).
