Rs 3600 crores subsidy given to EV buyers in India under FAME II Scheme.

64 electric vehicle manufacturers have registered to avail of demand incentives under the FAME India Scheme Phase-II as of October 2022.

To promote the use of electric vehicles in the country, the Government of India announced Phase II of the FAME India Scheme on April 1, 2019. Under the FAME II scheme, EV buyers get a subsidy of ₹10,000/KWh for electric three and four-wheelers and ₹15,000/KWh for electric two-wheelers.

Today, the Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries, Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, shared details of the FAME policy in Rajya Sabha. He shared that the government has given ₹3,618 crores worth of incentives to 18,02,967 EV buyers in India under the FAME scheme. Electric two-wheeler buyers have received the maximum subsidy.

Details of incentives given to EV buyers:

  • Electric two-wheelers - ₹2,464.27 crores
  • Electric three-wheelers - ₹351.21 crores
  • Electric four-wheelers - ₹114.65 crores
  • Electric buses - ₹687.93 crores
  • Total - ₹3,618 crores

He also shared that 64 electric vehicle manufacturers have registered for availing demand incentives under FAME-India Scheme Phase-II as of October 2022.
