Tata Nexon EV Max becomes the first electric car to reach the highest motorable road in the world.
Tata Nexon EV Max became the first electric car to reach the World’s highest motorable road at Umling La pass, located in Ladakh at 19,024 Ft. above sea level.
Tata Motors’ electric SUV Nexon EV Max entered the India Book of Records. Tata Motors announced that the Nexon EV Max became the first electric car to reach the World’s highest motorable road at Umling La pass, located in Ladakh at 19,024 Ft. above sea level.
A team of expert drivers started the journey from Leh and crossed the Umling La pass while connecting Chisumle and Demchok in Eastern Ladakh. The Tata Motors team completed the record on September 18, 2022, and made its official entry in the India Book of Records.

The Nexon EV Max comes with features like Instantaneous torque, ESP with i-VBAC, Hill Descent Control, IP 67 rated battery pack and motor, Auto-dimming IRVM, High ground clearance, high-water wading capability, Electronic Parking Brake, and Auto Vehicle hold. All these features make the car capable of being driven on such hilly and high-altitude roads.
The Nexon EV Max has a certified ARAI range of 437 km. The true range is over 300 km. The car has a Multi-mode regen feature which helps in high altitudes by adding range to the vehicle when coming downhill. It is also compatible with multiple charging options such as DC fast charging, AC fast charging, or regular charging from any 15 A plug point, allowing the user to operate in remote areas as well.
It has a Li-Ion battery pack of 40.5kWh and a 105kW PMS AC motor. It produces 105 kW (143 PS) of power and delivers an instant torque of 250 Nm. It is available in two trim options – XZ+ and XZ+ Lux.

- XZ+ (3.3 kW charger) : ₹ 18,34,000.
- XZ+ (7.2 kW charger) : ₹ 18,84,000.
- XZ+ Lux (3.3 kW charger) : 19,34,000.
- XZ+ Lux (7.2 kW charger) : 19,84,000.
