Tata Motors launches Tiago EV, the most affordable EV in India.

Tata Motors has launched its first electric hatch, the Tiago EV. Tiago EV is the most affordable electric car in India. The ex-showroom price of the base variant of the car is ₹8.49 lakh and of the top variant is ₹11.79 lakh. The current pricing is only for the first 10,000 customers. After that, the company will increase the price.

Tata Motors has launched Tiago EV in two battery variants, 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh. The larger battery pack variant has a Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC) range of 315km, and the 19.2kWh battery variant has an MIDC range of 250km. The real-world range will be less than the MIDC range.

Like the Nexon EV and Tigor EV, Tiago EV is based on the Ziptron technology. The smaller battery variant comes with a 45kW PMS motor and produces 110 Nm torque. While the larger battery variant comes with a 55kW motor and produces 114Nm torque.

Both the motor and battery pack are IP67 rated and come with a liquid-cooled thermal management system. The battery and motor also come with eight year or 160,000 km warranty.

Tiago EV also supports DC fast charging. A 50kW DC fast charger can add 110km of range with just 30mins of charging and can charge 10%- 80% in just 57 minutes. The car comes standard with a 3.3kW AC home charger. A 7.2 kW AC home charger option is also available with the XZ+ and XZ+ Tech LUX variants. A 7.2kW AC home fast charger can add 35kms range with just 30min of charging. It also aids full charging of the vehicle (from 10% – 100%) in 3 hr 36 mins.

The Tiago EV is built on the GNCAP 4-star rated platform. It also offers hill start and descent assistance for ease of driving on inclines, DRLs, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (iTPMS). The car comes with two driving modes – City and Sport along with four levels of regen settings in each of the drive modes. This provides ultimate customization according to customer driving styles. With level 3 regen settings, it delivers one pedal like driving experience.

Tiago EV will be the first in its category to offer telematics as a standard feature on all trims. The ZConnect app will offer 45 connected car features which include Remote AC ON/OFF with temperature setting, Remote geo-fencing & car location tracking, Smart watch connectivity, Remote vehicle health diagnostics, Real-time charge status, Dynamic charger locator, Driving Style analytics, amongst others. In addition to the above, customers will also enjoy an 8-speaker Harman Infotainment System with Android Auto and Apple Car Play connectivity.

It also has cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, and electric ORVMs with auto fold.

Tiago EV is available in five colour options – Teal Blue, Daytona Grey, Pristine White, Midnight Plum, and Tropical Mist.

• XT (19.2 kWh battery & 3.3 kW AC charger) : ₹9.09 lakh.
• XT(24 kWh battery & 3.3 kW AC charger) : ₹9.99 lakh.
• XZ+(24 kWh battery & 3.3 kW AC charger) : ₹10.79 lakh.
• XZ+ Tech LUX(24 kWh battery & 3.3 kW AC charger) : ₹11.29 lakh.
• XZ+(24 kWh battery & 7.2 kW AC charger) : ₹11.29 lakh.
• XZ+ Tech LUX(24 kWh battery & 7.2 kW AC charger) : ₹11.79 lakh.

Bookings for the Tiago.ev will start on October 10, 2023. Customers can reserve their car by paying a booking amount of ₹21,000 at any authorized Tata Motors dealership or on the website. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in January 2023.
