Mahindra launches the all-electric XUV400; Deliveries to begin by end of January 2023.

The Mahindra XUV400 has a range of 456 km, a top speed of 150 km/h, and will be available in five different colours. Test drives will begin in December 2022 across 16 cities, and deliveries will begin by the end of January 2023.

Mahindra launched its first electric SUV, the XUV400, on the eve of World EV Day. The much-awaited EV comes with the twin peaks logo.

Mahindra claims that it has the fastest acceleration in the non-luxury segment. It can achieve a speed of 0-100 km/h in just 8.3 seconds and has a top speed of 150 km/h. The motor produces 310 Nm of instant torque.

The XUV400 has a 39.4 kWh Li-ion battery pack, and the claimed range is 456km. In the Indian market, it will compete with the Nexon EV Max, which has a 40.5 kWh battery and a claimed range of 437 km.

The XUV400 also supports fast charging. It can be charged from 0-80% in 50 minutes with a 50kW DC fast charger. Time taken by home chargers is mentioned below:

  • 6 hours 30 minutes for 0-100% charge by a 7.2 kW/32A outlet
  • 13 hours for 0-100% charge by a standard 3.3 kW/16A domestic socket.

It comes with three driving modes, Fun, Fast, and Fearless. Each mode offers unique tuning of steering, throttle, and regen. It also has a Lively mode, which allows the driver to drive with a single pedal.

This compact SUV has a width of 1821 mm, which offers plenty of shoulder space for passengers. The length is 4200mm, and the wheelbase is 2600mm. It has a boot space of 378 litres/418 litres (up to the roof).

The EV also comes with a 17.78 cm touchscreen infotainment system, which is equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The BlueSense Plus App offers 60-plus mobile app-based connected features, including accessibility to nearby charging points, Mahindra service stations, track vehicle location, and many more powerful and useful features. It also supports Over-the-air updates.

The XUV400 is based on the XUV300 platform, which received five stars safety ratings in the Global NCAP crash tests. This makes the vehicle the highest functional safety rating India-built EV.

Mahindra has tested this EV under extreme weather conditions, ranging from 47°C (Jaisalmer) to -20°C (South Korea). Additionally, its fast-charging compatibility (CCS) has been tested in multiple geographies, including India, South Korea, and Germany.

It is also equipped with safety equipment, such as six airbags, disc brakes all around, ISOFIX seats, and more. The liquid-cooled battery pack is IP67 rated and offers optimum performance across diverse Indian conditions.

The XUV400 will be available in five colours: Arctic Blue, Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black, and Infinity Blue, with dual tone roof option in Satin Copper finish.

Mahindra will organise XUV400 Fun Fest for customers across 16 cities from November 2022. The test drives of the EV will begin in December 2022, and the bookings will start in the first week of January 2023. The price will also be revealed in January 2023.
