Delhi Transport Corporation gets 97 more electric buses.

CM Arvind Kejriwal revealed that the Delhi government would add 50 more electric buses to the DTC fleet in September.

Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal today added 97 electric buses to the Delhi Transport Corporation bus fleet. With this addition, the number of electric buses in DTC rose to 249.

CM Arvind Kejriwal and Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot flagged off the buses from the Rajghat depot 1. The Delhi government bought the e-buses from Tata Motors under the FAME 2 scheme. CM revealed that the government is also planning to add 2000 more electric buses.

CM said that the government would add 50 more electric buses to the DTC fleet in September. He also revealed that the Delhi government placed an order for 1500 more e-buses, and by the end of 2023, all the e-buses will be on the roads of Delhi.

By the end of 2025, 6,380 electric buses will be added, and the total number of electric buses in Delhi will rise to 8000. The government is also planning to add charging stations at 55 bus depots in Delhi.

The buses are 12-meter AC Tata Starbus EV, each with a seating capacity of 35 passengers. Each one of the buses is estimated to cut 0.33 million tonnes of PM 2.5 and PM 10 Carbon Dioxide (CO2) each in its life span of 10 years.

The buses have features like air conditioning, CCTV cameras, wheelchair accessibility, panic buttons, fire detection and suppression system, GPS, Live video streaming (in case of emergencies), and pink seats for female passengers.
