XPeng launches G6 Ultra Smart Coupe SUV in China.

XPeng G6 offers premium features at competitive prices, with initial deliveries to commence in July 2023 for customers in China.

XPeng has officially launched its G6 Ultra Smart Coupe SUV, marking a significant milestone in the company’s next-generation technology architecture, SEPA2.0. With initial deliveries set to begin in July 2023, customers in China can now experience the cutting-edge innovations of XPENG’s Smart EV offerings, ranging in price from 209,900 RMB (USD 29,000) to 276,900 RMB (USD 38,000).

The XPeng G6 sets a new benchmark for Smart EVs, incorporating state-of-the-art features and technologies. At the core of its advanced capabilities is XNGP, XPENG’s comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) solution. XNGP harnesses the power of China’s first BEV+Transformer-based deep visual neural network, known as XNet, enabling the vehicle to process real-time panoramic road conditions and navigate various driving scenarios.

Equipped with an impressive array of 31 smart sensors, including two LiDARs, and backed by dual NVIDIA DRIVE Orin-X chips providing a total computing power of up to 508 TOPS, the G6 demonstrates unparalleled computational capacity. This capability enables the vehicle to operate smoothly from start to finish, encompassing everything from initial ignition to parking at the destination, irrespective of high-definition (HD) map coverage availability.

XPENG’s dedication to safety and convenience is further exemplified by the integration of new-generation Highway NGP (Navigation Guided Pilot), efficient City NGP, and an industry-leading VPA-L memory-based parking function within the XNGP system. These features collectively enable end-to-end assisted driving in various daily scenarios. City NGP has already been implemented in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, four of China’s top-tier cities.

Anticipating the future of autonomous driving, XPENG aims to enhance user experience with the introduction of “AI Valet Driver” capabilities, set to be available to all XNGP-equipped vehicle owners in China starting in the fourth quarter of 2023. By leveraging XNGP’s ability to learn users’ frequently traveled routes, the AI Valet Driver feature will provide an ADAS experience comparable to that of a seasoned driver, even in areas lacking HD map coverage.

XPeng’s commitment to innovation is evident not only in the G6’s advanced technologies but also in its vehicle architecture. The integration of the XPower 800V powertrain system and 800V high-voltage SiC platform ensures superior performance and efficiency. Additionally, the front and rear integrated aluminum body die-casting, coupled with CIB battery-body integration technology, enhances the vehicle’s structural integrity and overall safety.

The G6 Ultra Smart Coupe SUV sets new standards not only in terms of advanced technologies and driving experience but also in charging capacity and energy efficiency. Designed to empower superior range performance and a seamless charging experience, the G6 incorporates several energy-saving features that contribute to its industry-leading capabilities.

The vehicle boasts 17 optimized anti-drag design features that reduce air resistance, optimizing its aerodynamics and maximizing energy efficiency. This, coupled with the cutting-edge X-HP 3.0 Intelligent Thermal Management System, ensures efficient energy utilization and minimizes energy loss during operation.

One notable aspect of the G6’s energy-saving attributes is its reduced body weight, achieved through the implementation of China’s exclusive front and rear integrated aluminum body die-casting technology. The lighter body construction contributes to enhanced efficiency and range, allowing the G6 to reach an impressive distance of up to 755 km (CLTC) on a single charge. Moreover, with a low energy consumption rate of 13.2 kWh per 100 km, the G6 establishes itself as a leader in energy efficiency among its peers.

To further elevate its charging capabilities, XPENG has equipped the G6 with the industry’s first mass-produced 800V SiC (silicon carbide) platform and a standard 3C battery. This combination enables the G6 to achieve remarkable charging speeds, setting a new industry benchmark. When utilizing XPENG’s S3/S4 supercharging piles, the G6 can be charged for just 10 minutes to gain a range of 300 km. Even on public fast-charging stations, the G6 outperforms previous-generation 400V models in the market, charging at a rate more than twice as fast.

In addition to its impressive technological advancements and energy-saving features, the G6 Ultra Smart Coupe SUV showcases a meticulously designed body that enhances both performance and aesthetics. The vehicle’s body design incorporates the dynamic golden ratio, resulting in a visually striking and harmonious appearance.

The G6’s body construction is optimized for stability and control, with a low barycenter of just 540 mm and a perfect 50:50 front and rear weight ratio. This configuration contributes to exceptional handling and maneuverability, allowing drivers to maintain precise control on the road. Furthermore, the front and rear integrated aluminum die-casting and CIB battery-body integration technology significantly enhance body rigidity, achieving an impressive rigidity of up to 41,600 N·m. Compared to traditional designs, this represents an 83% increase in rigidity, further improving driving control and safety.

The highly integrated 800V XPower 3-in-1 powertrain system is at the heart of the G6’s exceptional performance. This system delivers an exhilarating acceleration experience, propelling the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.9 seconds. The handling and responsiveness of the G6 are further enhanced by the collaboration with renowned Sci-Fi writer Liu Cixin, whose insights have contributed to the development of the vehicle’s sleek lines inspired by tech-fluid aesthetics.
