Triton EV to buy battery packs for electric trucks from Bharat Electronics Limited.
Bharat Electronics Limited also signed an MoU with Triton EV to manufacture Hydrogen Fuel cells for Triton’s upcoming two and three-wheelers.
Triton EV India Pvt Ltd has issued a ₹8060 Crores Letter of Intent (LoI) to Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the procurement of 300 KW Li-Ion Battery Packs for Triton’s Semi-Truck project in India.
BEL will deliver the battery packs to Triton in 24 months, starting from January 2023. The Purchase Order for the first-off quantity with a hundred percent advance payment has been handed over to BEL by Triton.
Mr. Dinesh Kumar Batra, CMD, BEL, received the LoI from Mr. Himanshu B Patel, CEO & Founder, Triton Electric Vehicle LLC, today at DefExpo 2022 in Gandhinagar, in the presence of Mr. Manoj Kumar, Executive Director, BEL, and other senior officers of Bharat Electronics Limited and TEV.
The two companies also signed an MoU for hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing. As per the MoU, Bharat Electronics Ltd will manufacture Hydrogen fuel cells for Triton EV.
In July this year, Triton EV announced that it would make hydrogen-powered two and three-wheelers in India. The company also unveiled the design of its Hydrogen Fuel Scooters on the occasion of India’s 76th Independence Day. It is the first auto manufacturer in India to enter the hydrogen-run two and three-wheeler segment.
At the DefExpo 2022 in Gandhinagar, TEV displayed a Defense hydrogen scooter along with a Special Purpose Off Road Dirt Bike. The company also displayed its flagship 5 kW fuel cell system.
TEV is also developing Hydrogen Buses which will be another first for the Industry. The company is working on launching these hydrogen-powered buses very soon in the Indian Market.
