The government of Goa to discontinue the subsidy for EV buyers.

The EV Policy will still be in force, and EV manufacturers will get the incentive.

The Department of New and Renewable Energy of the Government of Goa has announced that the government will discontinue the scheme for “Promotion of Electric Vehicles in the State of Goa” with effect from July 31, 2022.

EV buyers in Goa will not get the subsidy after July 31, 2022. They will only get the FAME-II subsidy from the central government.

The government of Goa introduced the Goa Electric Mobility Promotion Policy in December 2021 with the aim to have 30% annual EV registrations by 2025. In the policy, the government announced that EV buyers would get a subsidy of Rs 10,000/kWh. But after seven months, the government decided to discontinue the incentive.

However, EV manufacturers will still get the incentive. Manufacturers will get a capital subsidy of up to 20% of Fixed Capital Investment up to Rs 5 crores(whichever is lower). They will also get a 100% net SGST reimbursement for setting up a manufacturing plant in Goa.

The EV Policy will still be in force. The government of Goa aims to have 100% electric two-wheelers after 2030. It will also add 500 pure electric buses by 2025.

The government is also planning to have a charging station every 25 kilometers on highways and every 3 kilometers within city limits.
