Kia Corporation has today revealed full images of the exterior and interior design of the Kia EV9, its first three-row electric flagship SUV.

EV9 features a bold and confident visual presence inspired by Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy that seeks to balance nature and modernity. The result is a harmonious whole, reflecting a unique combination of sleek, sculptural shapes and assured assertive geometry.

Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy guides its designers to create visually appealing vehicles. The ‘Bold for Nature’ pillar of this philosophy, which blends elements from the natural and material worlds, has significantly influenced the exterior design of the EV9. As a result, the SUV seamlessly combines the rugged capability for all conditions with the serene calmness of a sophisticated EV, setting a new standard for future electric SUV designs.

The front of the EV9 boasts clear-cut lines and body surfaces that exude confidence, clarity, and calmness. The ‘Digital Pattern Lighting Grille’ and vertical headlamps accentuate the vehicle’s signature ‘Digital Tiger Face’, giving it a visionary and futuristic look. This innovative feature includes two clusters of small cube lamps within the bodywork adjacent to each headlamp, while the ‘Star Map LED daytime running lights (DRL)’ offer a sophisticated animated lighting pattern that sets a new standard for Kia’s future EV models.

With a polygonal design language, the side profile of the EV9 effortlessly combines a strong SUV identity with exceptional aerodynamic efficiency. The dynamic triangular fender structures and highly pronounced geometric wheel arches combine with the fuselage body to create a cohesive structure that presents a determined look. The flush door handles and tapered back roofline give a sense of smooth and efficient motion.

At the rear of the vehicle, the simple, clean lines of the tailgate are elegantly detailed by the slim rear lights that mirror those at the front, further reflecting the EV9’s strong and confident stance.

Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy inspires the ‘Technology for Life’ pillar, which prioritizes innovation that promotes positive and intuitive interactions between humans and machines. This ideology has been at the forefront of the creation of the EV9’s interior, enabling Kia’s designers to reimagine what a family SUV can offer by prioritizing space, comfort, and technology for all passengers.

The EV9, built on Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), boasts a long wheelbase, low beltline, and completely flat electric vehicle architecture, which provides generous space for all occupants to connect and relax with lounge-style comfort in all three rows of seats. Available in six and seven-seat configurations, Kia has designed the EV9 to offer equal space, comfort, and experience to all occupants without solely focusing on the driver.

Passengers in the first and second-row seats can simultaneously recline their seats to rest while the vehicle is charging. The second-row seats can also swivel 180 degrees, allowing passengers to interact with those in the third row. The third-row seats feature cup holders and charging points for mobile devices.

The spacious and airy cabin embodies an elegantly simple and premium quality design, with an open, floating panoramic dashboard that extends from the steering wheel to the vehicle’s center. The EV9 boasts two 12.3-inch touch screens integrated with one 5-inch segment display, which offers effortless control of the vehicle’s functions while keeping physical buttons to a minimum.

The center console provides ample storage options, including a spacious compartment located at its base, and its doors add to the overall refinement of the interior space. The extended display high-definition audio visual, navigation, and telematics (AVNT) screen creates an immersive experience, enhancing occupants’ ability to engage and interact with the digital world seamlessly. Additionally, hidden touch buttons beneath the AVNT screen provide a start/stop function, along with AVNT and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) control.

The Kia EV9 will make its digital global premiere in late March. During the event, Kia will disclose all product information.
