XPENG Smart EV Models Break Records in NAF Summer Test 2023.

XPENG G9 SUV achieves peak charging power of 319 kW and highest average charging power in NAF History.

XPENG today announced that its two smart EV (electric vehicle) models for European markets, the G9 flagship SUV, and the new P7 sports sedan, have successfully concluded the two-day NAF (Norwegian Automobile Federation) and Motor EV Summer test, also known as El-Prix 2023.

During the two-day test, which involved 32 EVs from various luxury and popular brands including Tesla and BYD, the XPENG G9 and P7 stood out in terms of range and charging capabilities. The NAF Summer Test 2023 evaluated EVs for real-world deviation rate to their WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure) range and charging speed.

In the range test category, the XPENG G9 and P7 secured the top two spots with impressive ranges of 588 km and 557 km, respectively. The deviation rate to their WLTP range stood at 113% and 110.3%, showcasing their ability to surpass the estimated range under optimal summer conditions. Notably, only one-third of the electric cars tested managed to exceed their WLTP figures, highlighting the exceptional performance of XPENG’s smart EVs.

Furthermore, the XPENG G9 set a new charging record in NAF history, achieving a peak charging power of 319 kW, surpassing all other contenders. It also maintained the highest average charging power of 212 kW ever recorded by NAF. Incredibly, the G9 achieved a range of 200 kilometers in a mere 8.4 minutes, further highlighting its rapid charging capabilities.

The XPENG G9’s exceptional performance can be attributed to its utilization of an industry-leading 800V high-voltage platform. This advanced platform not only offers improved safety standards but also provides faster charging capability, 1.5 to 2 times faster than the previous 400V platform. The integration of an 800V SiC (silicon carbide) platform has also contributed to reducing overall power consumption, leading to more efficient and accurate range.

Although the XPENG P7 operates on a 400V platform, it still managed to deliver solid range and charging performance. With an average consumption of 13.7 kWh/100 km and a peak charging power of 189 kW, the P7’s impressive numbers can be attributed to comprehensive upgrades in battery management, thermal management, and chassis tuning.
