Volvo unveils the luxurious EX90 Excellence at Shanghai Auto Show.

The limited edition four-seater Volvo EX90 Excellence boasts advanced technology and sustainable materials, providing a unique and desirable driving experience.

Volvo recently presented its latest addition to its lineup at the Shanghai Auto Show - the limited edition and top-of-the-line variant, EX90 Excellence. The company claims that the EX90 Excellence is the ultimate choice for those who prefer to relax in the back seats rather than drive themselves.

Externally, the EX90 Excellence is similar to its seven-seater sibling, but with a few subtle tweaks that give it a more confident and sublime look. However, the real magic happens inside the vehicle. Volvo has removed the back-row seats and replaced them with two individual seats, each equipped with comfortable soft pillows. The space between the seats features a fridge, making it perfect for those who want to store their beverages.

The centerpiece of the EX90 Excellence’s interior is a beautiful piece of natural wood that houses a touch panel for comfort control. Here, the passengers can access the controls for their seat heating, which can be adjusted to three different levels, and a massage function with five different intensity levels.

Moreover, the large Orrefors crystal piece in the center console acts as a microswitch that controls a fragrance dispenser, supporting up to three different fragrances. This sensory experience is amplified by corresponding mood lighting around the cabin, culminating into a relaxing experience inside your Volvo EX90 Excellence.

When it comes to the upholstery, the EX90 Excellence offers two options - either a tailored wool blend or a Nordico material made from recycled material such as PET bottles and bio-attributed material from forests in Sweden and Finland. Nordico is a progressive and advanced material that showcases Volvo’s commitment to sustainability.

Adding to its luxurious features, the Volvo EX90 Excellence also boasts advanced technology that takes the driving experience to a whole new level. The car benefits from the same advanced technology base revealed on the Volvo EX90 last year, making it the safest four-seater Volvo has ever built. The car is equipped with an invisible shield of safety enabled by Volvo’s latest sensing technology, inside and outside, as well as lidar technology from Luminar as standard and a groundbreaking driver understanding system.

Under the hood, the EX90 Excellence is powered by a core system, which is powered by the NVIDIA DRIVE® in-car computing platform with Xavier and Orin system-on-chips, Snapdragon® Cockpit Platforms from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and in-house developed software by Volvo engineers. This system runs the key functions inside the car, from safety and infotainment to battery management, resulting in a more responsive and enjoyable experience inside the car.

In addition to its advanced technology, the Volvo EX90 Excellence also features a highly intuitive infotainment system, with a 14.5-inch centre screen acting as the gateway. The car is equipped with a standard 5G connection, making it easier to install the apps you need on your home screen, and to stream your favourite music and podcasts through the new Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity audio system, enabled with Dolby Atmos as a Volvo-first that offers an uncompromising 3D surround sound experience.

Thanks to its twin electric motors and all-wheel drive, the EX90 Excellence offers a smooth driving experience and a range of up to 650 km under the CLTC driving cycle on a single charge. Furthermore, the car is designed to get better over time, thanks to regular over-the-air software updates, making it not only a luxury vehicle but also a highly advanced computer on wheels.
