Volkswagen launches upgraded all-electric ID.3 with sustainable materials in the interior.

The new Volkswagen ID.3 will come with a sleek and modern design, aerodynamics improvements, eco-friendly materials in the interior, the latest software, and driving assist features.

Volkswagen has launched an upgraded version of its all-electric ID.3, which was first introduced two and a half years ago. The latest model comes with a comprehensive upgrade, including the latest software, a sharper exterior, and a refined interior design. The range of colours has also been extended to include new colours, such as Dark Olivine Green. The new version of the ID.3 is part of a total of ten new electric models that Volkswagen will launch by 2026.

The refreshed exterior of the ID.3 features a sleek and modern design, with optimized air-cooling openings and larger painted surfaces that give the car a confident and friendly appearance from every angle. The new bumper is a key factor in this, and the removal of the black strip under the windscreen, along with the addition of recessed sections on the sides, further extends the length of the bonnet.

Volkswagen has also made significant improvements to the aerodynamics of the car, with an enhanced “air curtain” that improves airflow around the front wheels. The rear of the car is also noteworthy, with two-part tail lights that now shine in the rear lid for the first time. Overall, these design changes not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the car, but also improve its performance and efficiency.

The new ID.3’s interior seamlessly blends modern design with eco-friendly materials, creating a high-quality and sustainable environment. Precise seams in a contrasting color add an extra touch of sophistication to the interior. VW has utilized Artvelours Eco, a microfiber material made from 71% recycled materials, for the door trims and seat covers. The recycled material is obtained from plastic waste that has been previously disposed of at least once. Despite being made from recycled materials, Artvelours Eco has the same durability, texture, and visual appeal as conventional materials.

The latest generation software is integrated into the new Volkswagen ID.3, enhancing system performance and allowing for over-the-air updates. The compact driver display, measuring 13.4 centimeters (5.3 inches), is operated through the multifunction steering wheel. The console features a 30.5-centimeter (12-inch) touch display that is now standard for navigation, telephone functions, media, assist systems, and vehicle settings.

Furthermore, the ID.3 offers an optional augmented reality head-up display (AR head-up display) that projects critical information, such as vehicle speed and dynamic navigation instructions, onto the windscreen.

The ID.3 now offers the optional Travel Assist with swarm data. This advanced driver assist system combines the adaptive cruise control (ACC) and Lane Assist features, enabling longitudinal and lateral control from 0 km/h to the vehicle’s maximum speed. The two proven systems are seamlessly integrated with one another in the new ID.3, resulting in a more efficient and effective driving experience.

In situations where swarm data is available, Travel Assist requires only one identified road lane marking to keep the vehicle in its lane while driving on country roads. This feature not only enhances safety but also reduces driver fatigue, allowing for a more relaxed and enjoyable driving experience.

The new ID.3 provides a more seamless and convenient charging experience. It features standard functions like Plug & Charge, which enables the vehicle to verify its identity and initiate the charging process when the cable is plugged into a charging station. Additionally, the intelligent Electric Vehicle Route Planner helps drivers plan their journeys with ease.
