Volkswagen Group's EV deliveries up by 25 percent YoY after nine months of 2022.

Europe was the biggest EV market for Volkswagen in the first nine months of 2022, BEV deliveries in Europe reached 211,900 (58% of the total EV deliveries).

The Volkswagen Group announced its EV delivery details. In the first nine months of 2022, Volkswagen delivered 366,400 battery EVs globally. The deliveries increased by 25% YoY, up from 293,000 in the prior-year period.

The BEV share of total deliveries increased to 6% from 4.2% in the same period of 2021. The Group registered its highest growth in China. The BEV deliveries in China more than doubled and reached 112,700.

Europe was the biggest EV market for Volkswagen in the first nine months of 2022. BEV deliveries in Europe reached 211,900, which is 58% of the total EV deliveries. In the third quarter of 2022, Volkswagen delivered 83,100 BEVs in Europe. The company also has a BEV order bank of over 350,000 in Western Europe.

The second biggest BEV market for the Group was China, with 112,700 deliveries (31 percent of the Group total). The USA corresponded to 8 percent of the Group’s global BEV deliveries with 28,900 vehicles.

In Q3 2022, Volkswagen Group delivered 49,200 BEVs in China and 12,000 in the USA.

By the end of September, the Volkswagen brand delivered 207,200 BEVs to customers (57% of the Group total). This was followed by Audi with 77,000 vehicles (21% of Group total), ŠKODA with 36,900 vehicles (10% of Group total), Porsche with 25,100 vehicles (7% of Group total), and SEAT/CUPRA with 17,600 vehicles (5% of Group total).

The top-selling BEV models in the first nine months of 2022 are:

  1. Volkswagen ID.4/ID.5- 122,600 units
  2. Volkswagen ID.3- 45,500 units
  3. ŠKODA Enyaq iV (incl. Coupé)- 36,900 units
  4. Audi e-tron (incl. Sportback)- 36,400 units
  5. Audi Q4 e-tron (incl. Sportback)- 29,700 units
  6. Volkswagen ID.6- 27.500 units
  7. Porsche Taycan (incl. Cross Turismo)- 25,100 units
  8. CUPRA Born- 17,500 units

Hildegard Wortmann, Member of the Extended Executive Committee, said: Customers love our brands’ all-electric model range which is the broadest in the industry. Due to the strong demand and ongoing supply constraints, our order bank remains at a high level. However, we reached a BEV share of 6.8 percent in Q3, the highest so far this year.
