Groundbreaking ceremony on July 28 marks a significant milestone for VinFast to supply electric vehicles in North America.

VinFast announced it will hold the groundbreaking ceremony of its electric vehicle factory in North Carolina on July 28. This will be the first electric vehicle manufacturing facility in North Carolina, and will help contribute to the supply of electric vehicles in North America and accelerate the global green mobility revolution.

Located at the Triangle Innovation Point in Chatham County, North Carolina, VinFast’s expansive manufacturing facility will span an impressive 1,800 acres. The factory is designed to reach an initial production capacity of 150,000 vehicles per year in its first phase, with two main areas dedicated to electric vehicle production and assembly. Additionally, the complex will house supplementary supplier businesses, fostering a collaborative ecosystem.

With the necessary permits already in place, the commencement of Phase 1 construction is eagerly anticipated. Once fully operational, VinFast’s factory will not only generate thousands of new jobs but also foster the growth of a robust supplier network in the region. The projected timeline suggests that production will begin in 2025, bringing VinFast’s cutting-edge electric vehicles to North American roads.

To support this groundbreaking project, VinFast secured a substantial $1.2 billion incentive package from the State of North Carolina. The City of Sanford, Chatham County, and the Golden Leaf Foundation also provided critical financial support, emphasizing the community’s commitment to fostering sustainable development and job creation.

In addition to the factory, VinFast is making significant strides to expand its business and increase brand recognition in the United States. The company is actively bolstering its retail store and service center network, organizing local test drives, and hosting product showcase events throughout California. These efforts aim to provide customers with direct access to VinFast’s electric vehicles, ensuring they can experience the cutting-edge technology firsthand.

Madam Le Thi Thu Thuy, CEO of VinFast Auto. said: “The manufacturing facility in North Carolina is one of VinFast’s key projects. When it begins operations, the factory will be VinFast’s primary supplier of electric vehicles to the North American market, allowing us to optimize production and business activities. We hope the construction of the factory in Chatham County will contribute to advancing the clean energy economy in the US and help to support North Carolina’s green mobility strategy.”
