The administration of Ladakh introduces the EV policy 2022.

Under the Ladakh EV policy, EV buyers will get 10% of the price of the vehicle as a subsidy. An early bird incentive is also available for early adopters of electric vehicles in Ladakh.

The administration of Ladakh has framed an Electric Vehicle and Allied Infrastructure Policy 2022. The Ladakh EV policy aims to promote sustainable mobility in Ladakh by kickstarting the sale and use of EVs. It also encourages research, innovation, and skill development in EV technology.

To boost the adoption of EVs, the administration has introduced incentives for EV buyers.

  • Buyers of electric two-wheelers will get a subsidy of 10% of the ex-showroom price of the EV. The maximum incentive for an electric two-wheeler is ₹15,000. The incentive is only for two-wheelers with a maximum ex-showroom price of ₹1,50,000.
  • Buyers of electric three-wheelers/e-rickshaw will get a subsidy of 10% of the ex-showroom price of the EV, and the maximum incentive for an electric three-wheeler is ₹30,000. The incentive is only for three-wheelers with a maximum ex-showroom price of ₹3,00,000.
  • Buyers of electric commercial three-wheelers will get a subsidy of 10% of the ex-showroom price of the EV, and the maximum incentive for an electric three-wheeler is ₹50,000. The incentive is only for three-wheelers with a maximum ex-showroom price of ₹5,00,000.
  • For electric cars, the subsidy is 10% of the ex-showroom price or ₹2,50,000 (whichever is lower). The incentive is for electric cars with a maximum ex-showroom price of ₹25,00,000.
  • Electric bus buyers will get 25% of the ex-showroom price or ₹50,00,000(whichever is lower) as a subsidy. There is no subsidy for buses priced more than ₹2,00,00,000.
  • For commercial electric four-wheelers, such as LCV, State Carriage, Maxi Cabs, etc., the subsidy is 10% of the ex-showroom price or ₹3,00,000 (whichever is lower). The incentive is for electric commercial four-wheelers with a maximum ex-showroom price of ₹30,00,000.

The administration of Ladakh has also introduced an early bird incentive in the policy for EV buyers, which is applicable for one year.

As per the early bird incentive scheme:

  • The first 28 buyers of electric two-wheelers in Ladakh will get 20% of the ex-showroom price of the EV or ₹30,000 (whichever is lower) as a subsidy.
  • The first ten buyers of e-rickshaw/e-cart in Ladakh will get 20% of the ex-showroom price of the EV or ₹60,000 (whichever is lower) as a subsidy.
  • The first ten buyers of electric three-wheelers in Ladakh will get 20% of the ex-showroom price of the EV or ₹1,00,000 (whichever is lower) as a subsidy.
  • The first 33 buyers of electric cars in Ladakh will get 20% of the ex-showroom price of the EV or ₹5,00,000 (whichever is lower) as a subsidy.
  • The first 11 buyers of electric buses in Ladakh will get 50% of the ex-showroom price of the EV or ₹1,00,00,000 (whichever is lower) as a subsidy.
  • The first nine buyers of commercial electric four-wheelers, such as LCV, State Carriage, Maxi Cabs, etc., in Ladakh, will get 20% of the ex-showroom price of the EV or ₹6,00,000 (whichever is lower) as a subsidy.

The Ladakh EV policy will be valid for five years(2022-2027) from the date of issue of relevant government resolution.
