Tata Power and GAIL Gas partner to expand EV Charging infrastructure in Bengaluru.

The partnership between Tata Power and GAIL Gas Ltd aims to make sustainable travel choices available to all through a seamless charging infrastructure.

Tata Power has entered into an agreement with GAIL Gas Limited, a subsidiary of GAIL India Limited, to establish DC fast charging stations at two of GAIL Gas’s CNG retail outlets in Bengaluru.

This partnership aligns with Tata Power’s goal to promote electric mobility throughout the country and GAIL Gas’s goal to provide convenience to customers who wish to switch to electric vehicles. The partnership’s objective is to make sustainable travel choices accessible to everyone by providing a charging infrastructure that is comparable to conventional fuel infrastructure. It also supports the Government of India’s National Electric Mobility Mission Plan, which aims to develop electric vehicle charging infrastructure using advanced technology and easy access to charging points.

Tata Power is a leading company in the electric vehicle charging industry, with an extensive network of over 3600 charging points across 450+ cities, including petrol pumps, metro stations, shopping malls, theatres, and highways. The company operates in all segments of the EV ecosystem, including public charging, captive charging, home charging, workplace charging, and ultra-rapid chargers for buses. In the next 5 years, Tata Power aims to install 25000 public EV charging stations throughout the country. GAIL Gas Limited is a prominent City Gas Distribution company in India, executing CGD projects in 25 Geographical Areas and working with its Joint Ventures covering 50 Districts.

Recently, Tata Power participated in the Auto Expo 2023 and showcased its wide range of hi-tech EV charging solutions. The company also announced its ambitious plan of establishing approximately 25,000 electric vehicle charging points nationwide – K2K (Kashmir to Kanyakumari), over the next five years. This plan is aimed at accelerating the adoption of e-mobility in the country.

Speaking about the partnership, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power said, “We are happy to collaborate with GAIL Gas Limited since they share our commitment to sustainable mobility. EV owners in Bengaluru will benefit from the growing availability for chargers as this partnership will make charging stations more accessible to them and lessen range anxiety.”
