Tata Motors launches its second electric car- the Tigor EV

All new Tigor EV gets a 26kWh Li-Ion battery and is powered by the Ziptron technology. Bookings open at ₹21,000!

Tata Motors launched its second electric car in the passenger vehicle segment- the Tigor EV. Like the Nexon EV, this compact sedan is also based on Ziptron technology.

Pre-booking of this car begins from 18th August. The booking amount is ₹21,000, and it is available in three variants: XZ+ DT, XZ+, and XM. 

This car is offered in a Teal Blue(Dual Tone) colour. The actual price will be announced on 31st August when the sale begins.

Motor, Battery, and Performance

The Tigor EV has a peak power output of 55 kW and a peak torque of 170 Nm. The Permanent Magnet Synchronous AC Motor provides instant torque for better performance and efficiency. Tigor EV can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in just 5.7 seconds.

This electric sedan has a 26kWh Li-Ion battery. The liquid cooling packaging of the battery pack helps in extracting maximum onboard power. 

The range of the car is not revealed yet. You can expect it to be around 300km/charge. For the official figure, we will have to wait till 31st August.

Both the battery and the motor have an IP67 rating, which makes them weatherproof. Also, the Tigor EV comes with an 8-year and 160,000 KM battery and motor warranty.

Charging it at home from 0% to 80% takes around 8.5 hours, while fast charging will only take an hour to charge from 0 to 80%. You can use any 15A plug point to charge it. 

0 to 80% of the battery can be charged in just an hour using a fast charger.

Features and Interior

The 7 inch Harman touchscreen, along with four speakers and four tweeters, delivers better connectivity and infotainment. You can connect Tigor EV with the mobile app and get the benefits of 30+ features, including remote commands, intrusion alert, remote cooling, charging status, time to full charge, and remote diagnostics.

The driver’s seat is height adjustable. The boot space of this car is 316 litres and is expandable up to 375 litres after removing the spare wheel.

The company also provides a tyre puncture kit along with the car.

The interior is silent and spacious, with ample headroom and legroom.

Safety

Talking about safety, the company claims that it is the safest electric sedan in the country. Tigor EV has a rear crash-compatible structure and complies with ODB 64 test standards. The Impact-Resistant Battery Pack casing of the Tigor EV complies with AIS - 048 standards for nail penetration at the cell level. The safety features of Tigor EV include dual airbagsABS with EBD and Corner Stability Control, and Hill ascent assist & Hill descent assist.
