Stellantis partners with HEVO to integrate wireless charging into its EVs.

HEVO and Stellantis are initially demonstrating Level 2 wireless charging on a Chrysler Pacifica PHEV at the company's office complex in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

HEVO, a leading provider of wireless electric vehicle charging technology, has announced its partnership with Stellantis. Under the agreement, Stellantis plans to integrate HEVO’s wireless charging technology into its EVs.

HEVO and Stellantis are initially demonstrating Level 2 wireless charging on a Chrysler Pacifica PHEV at the company’s office complex in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The goal is to complete this demonstration in 2023 and then move on to a 50kW fast wireless charging project.

If successful, this project will open up opportunities for HEVO to offer wireless charging to Stellantis customers, with a focus on cost competitiveness with traditional plug-in charging methods as production volumes increase.

Wireless charging technology aims to enhance ease and safety while eliminating the challenges associated with managing cords. HEVO’s technology, which has won awards, is highly efficient, with up to a 95% efficiency rate from the grid to the battery.

It also meets the wireless charging standards established by SAE and UL. While the technology is yet to be widely adopted, it is already being utilized in logistics and transit fleets, as well as to assist disabled drivers who require accessible and ADA-compliant charging solutions.

HEVO’s Chief Commercial Officer, Vic Peltola, commented: “HEVO is energized by Stellantis’s commitment to innovation and improving the end-to-end experience for EV drivers. With their diverse product lineup and brands such as Jeep, Ram, Dodge, Chrysler, Fiat, Maserati, and Peugeot, our collaboration will accelerate decarbonization by enabling significant benefits for fleet and passenger customers seeking a more convenient and seamless charging experience.”
