Production of the new Audi Q8 e-tron starts at the Brussels plant.

The Audi Brussels plant, where the new Q8 e-tron is being manufactured, is the world’s first certified carbon-neutral high-volume production plant in the premium segment.

Audi has started the production of the new Q8 e-tron at its Brussels plant. Audi revealed the new Q8 e-tron in November this year. It has improved aerodynamics and higher charging performance. The range is also increased to 582 km in the SUV and 600 km in the Sportback.

The Brussels plant has been a role model for sustainable production since the production of the Audi e-tron began. Audi has delivered around 160,000 units of its first electric model since 2018.

The Audi Brussels plant is the world’s first certified carbon-neutral high-volume production plant in the premium segment. The plant has had carbon-neutral production since 2018. Audi Brussels installed one of the region’s largest photovoltaic systems on the plant premises, covering 107,000 square meters. The system generates around 9,000 megawatt hours of power from sustainable energy every year. That’s enough to charge some 90,000 Q8 e-tron units and reduce carbon emissions by 1,881 tons.

The companies that supply the battery cells are obliged to use only renewable energy sources for production. The electric traction motors for production are transported from Hungary to Brussels by green freight.

The Q8 e-tron will be available in the market in Germany and other European markets from the end of February 2023. In the USA, the model is expected to come to the market at the end of April. It will be available in three drivetrain variants, Q8 50, Q8 55, and SQ8. All three variants will be available in SUV and Sportback models. The base price of the car in Germany will be 74,400 euros.
