Mercedes VISION EQXX travels 1202 km on a single charge, breaking its previous record.

Mercedes VISION EQXX travelled from Stuttgart, Germany, to Silverstone, UK, covering 1202 km, with an average speed of 83 km/h.

Mercedes Benz’s electric car VISION EQXX completed a 1202 km trip on a single charge. It is not the first time this car has travelled more than 1000km on a single charge. In April this year, it covered 1008 km in one trip.

This time it broke its own efficiency record in real-world driving by travelling from Stuttgart, Germany, to Silverstone in the UK, covering a total of 1202 km.

VISION EQXX is a research vehicle developed by Mercedes to improve the efficiency of its EVs. Mercedes is testing this vehicle in a wide range of real-life traffic scenarios. The Mercedes engineering team are running a series of road trips to test this research vehicle under different conditions. It covers long-distance journeys on public roads to provide R&D experts with valuable data for the ongoing EV development programme.

In the latest record-breaking road trip, it travelled from Stuttgart, Germany, to Silverstone, UK. During the 14 hours and 30 minutes of driving, it covered 1202 km, with an average speed of 83 km/h.

The maximum speed attained by the car was 140 km/h, and the average energy consumption was 8.3kWh per 100 km. The battery capacity of this car is 100 kWh. The air conditioning was operational for just over eight hours yet had a minimal negative impact on overall energy consumption.

Talking about this achievement, Markus Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, said: The journey continues – even further, even more efficient! Yet again, the VISION EQXX has proven that it can easily cover more than 1,000 km on a single battery charge, this time faced with a different set of real-world conditions. As Mercedes-Benz strives to go all-electric by 2030, wherever market conditions allow, it is important to show the world what can be achieved in real terms through a combination of cutting-edge technology, teamwork, and determination.
