Mercedes launches EQB, an all-electric seven-seater SUV in India.

The Mercedes EQB is equipped with a 66.5 kWh Li-ion battery pack, offers a WLTP range of 423 km, and is available at an ex-showroom price of ₹74.5 Lakh.

Mercedes has launched its seven-seater electric SUV EQB 300 4MATIC in India. It is Mercedes’ third all-electric luxury vehicle in India. The company has launched it at an ex-showroom price of ₹74.5 Lakh.

The Mercedes EQB is equipped with a 66.5 kWh Li-ion battery pack. This high energy density battery pack has a maximum voltage of 367 V. This SUV will offer a range between 388-423 km, depending on your driving style.

EQB has two motors, an Asynchronous motor in the front axle and a newly developed permanently excited synchronous motor in the rear axle. This gives a combined power output of 168 kW and torque of 390 Nm. The top speed of EQB is 160 km/h, and it can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8 seconds.

The EQB has length/width/height and a wheelbase very close to the GLC. It offers a generous amount of space and a maximum boot capacity of 1620 litres. It comes with a third seat row with two additional individual seats. The second row offers a 40:20:40 split and can be moved forward and backward for space variability.

EQB will come with an 11kW AC charger for home charging. The SUV supports DC charging up to 100 kW. Using a 100 kW charger, it can be charged from 10 to 80% in 32 minutes. The SUV also has a safety concept for the high-voltage system. It automatically switches off the high-voltage system in a crash. Another feature of this comprehensive safety concept is that the charging process is automatically stopped if an impact is detected when the car is charging at a DC charging station.

Along with the EQB, Mercedes also launched a petrol SUV GLB 200, diesel GLB 220d, and diesel GLB 220d 4M.

Martin Schwenk, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said, “We are excited to wrap up 2022 with the key introduction of two versatile 7-seater SUVs the GLB & EQB. Both these SUVs are highly versatile, spacious, and ideal for large nuclear families requiring extra space and a pair of seats, for the pre-teens or even pets. They can seat up to 7 passengers and offer a choice of space configurations while also being able to navigate rough terrain effortlessly.”

He added, “For the first time, we are offering three powertrains, petrol, diesel, and electric for our customers. The launch of the EQB is also a significant step towards our vision of transitioning to a climate-neutral fleet gradually, with four luxury EVs in the Mercedes-Benz India portfolio. We have also introduced attractive ownership propositions like industry best warranties on both the SUVs for an enhanced customer experience.
