January 2023 Electric two wheeler sales; Ola Electric maintains its dominance at the top.

TVS and Ather registered an increase in their electric two-wheeler monthly sales in January 2023, while the sales of Hero Electric, Ampere, and Okinawa declined.

Electric two-wheeler sales in India have skyrocketed, setting new records every month. In January 2023, the number of electric two wheeler sales surpassed 60,000.

2022 was a landmark year for electric vehicles (EVs) in India. The country saw over 10 lakh EVs sold, with a staggering six lakh of those being electric two-wheelers. This impressive sales performance has continued into 2023, with the electric two-wheeler market showing no signs of slowing down. The sales momentum from the previous year is only gathering speed.

In January 2023, 64,203 electric two-wheelers were sold in India.

Ola Electric has secured the first position in the sales list, delivering outstanding results in January 2023. The company sold 18,212 units of its popular S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters, solidifying its position as a top player in the industry.

This impressive feat is made even more remarkable by the fact that Ola Electric has sold over 16,000 e-scooters for four consecutive months. The company has set a new benchmark, becoming the first in the industry to achieve this level of sales performance.

TVS has recorded a rise in sales of its electric two-wheelers, registering its highest-ever monthly sales figures of 10,378 units in January 2023. This impressive performance has secured the company’s position at the second spot in the retail sales rankings.

The new iQube and iQube S are in demand. TVS recently unveiled its flagship electric scooter, the iQube ST, at the Auto Expo 2023. The company has received a positive response to this new addition to its lineup and is set to begin deliveries later this year.

Another company to register high growth in electric two-wheeler sales is Ather Energy. Ather delivered 9,110 units of 450X electric scooters in January and is in third place on the sales list. Recently, Ather rolled out its 100,000th electric scooter from its manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

Sales of Hero Electric, Okinawa, and Ampere EV declined in January. The companies sold 6,392, 4,404, and 4.366 electric two-wheelers, respectively.

Hero MotoCorp also started the deliveries of Vida electric scooters in Bengaluru, Jaipur, and Delhi. Hero delivered 157 Vida V1 electric scooters in these three cities.

Overall, the electric vehicle market in India is on the rise, and it is expected to continue its growth trajectory in the coming years. With the government’s support for electric mobility and the efforts of EV companies, the future of sustainable transportation in India looks bright.
