Bombay HC cancels BEST's tender of 2100 electric buses given to Evey Trans.

Evey Trans got the tender to supply 2100 electric buses to BEST in May this year. Bombay HC ordered to cancel the tender after a petition filed by Tata Motors.

In May this year, MEIL group‘s company Evey Trans Private Limited, got the tender to supply 2100 electric buses to Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST). The order value was ₹ 3675 crores, and the buses were expected to be delivered in a year.

But after Evey Trans got the tender, Tata Motors filed a petition in the Bombay High Court challenging the tender process. Tata Motors said that BEST allowed Evey Trans to change its bid two hours before the technical evaluation.

Tata Motors filed the complaint, saying that the process completely disregards tender conditions, which put a specific embargo on any changes to the technical bid after the opening.

Tata Motors urged the Court to take strict action on the favour extended by BEST to Evey Trans.

Bombay HC said that the decision of BEST to give the tender to Evey Trans was incorrect and cancelled the contract of 2100 electric buses.

The Court also said BEST might issue a fresh tender for the electric buses if required.
