2435 electric buses deployed across India under the FAME II scheme.

Maharashtra has the highest number of electric buses sanctioned and deployed under FAME II.

In a recent development, the Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries, Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, has shared crucial details about the deployment of e-buses under the FAME India Scheme Phase-II. The minister, in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, informed that as of 15.02.2023, 3,738 electric buses have been sanctioned under FAME II and 2,435 buses are deployed across the country. Maharashtra has the highest number of electric buses sanctioned and deployed under FAME II.

According to the data shared by the minister, 830 e-buses were sanctioned under the FAME-II scheme, out of which 682 are currently deployed in Maharashtra. Gujarat, on the other hand, has 700 e-buses sanctioned, out of which 397 are deployed. Uttar Pradesh is in the third position with 600 sanctions and 565 deliveries.

This data indicates that Maharashtra has taken a big leap in the adoption of electric buses, and the state government’s efforts to promote sustainable transportation are paying off. The deployment of a significant number of e-buses in the state will help in reducing air pollution and carbon emissions, contributing towards the larger goal of fighting climate change.

It is also worth noting that Gujarat has shown significant progress in the adoption of e-buses, and the state government’s efforts to promote electric mobility should be commended. Uttar Pradesh has also made strides in this direction, but there is still room for improvement.
